Gabriel 'Napao' Gonzaga holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Wander Braga, and is a former member of the famous Chute Boxe Academy. He won the Mundials (2004), which is considered to be the top BJJ competition in the world and currently trains with Team Link in Massachusetts.

Gonz made his debut in mixed martial arts when he defeated Cicero Cicero on April 4th, 2003 in Santos, Brazil at the Brazilian Gladiators 2 event. He has quickly risen to the top of the heavyweight ranks and is perhaps best known for his two exciting fights against Mirko Filipovic and Randy Couture.

Gabriel stunned the world on April 21, 2007 when he knocked Mirko out with a devestating head kick late in the first round after dominating Filipovic from the start. His victory earned him a UFC Heavyweight Championship fight against champion Randy Couture.

At UFC 74 - Respect, Gabriel fought and lost to the ageless Randy Couture in what was an exciting, memorable fight between two fantastic heavyweight fighters.

Gabriel is one of the new young guns in mixed martial arts, part of the next generation of fighter. You'll be hearing about him for years to come.
